ThePong Eco village is located on the upper banks of the maharana pratap sagar or the pong dam lake which is a man made water reservoir created because of the erection of The pong Dam on beas river in Himachal Pradesh.The dam is located on the border of the mountainous state of Himachal Pradesh and the plains of punjab.
There are two ways to reach the pong eco village.One is through the NH 44,NH 205 that passes through delhi-ambala-kharar-ropar-anandpur sahib-nangal-una-amb-mubarikpur-talwara township-pong dam-khatiyar-the pong eco village.Any bus from delhi that goes to chamba or dalhousie passes through khatiyar from where the pong eco village is 5 kilometres.The nearest rail head on this route is daulatpur chowk for which only one train comes that is the himachal express from delhi.The other important railheads are una and chandigarh from where one can get a bus to reach the pong eco village.
The other route to reach the pong eco village is through the national highway 44 that passes through delhi-ambala-khanna-ludhiana-jalandhar-mukerian-talwara-pong dam-khatiar-the pong eco village.Any bus or train that goes to pathankot passes through a small city mukerian which is the turning point for talwara township from where you can easily reach the pong dam lake or the pong eco village.The nearest railhead on this route is mukerian which is 40 kms from here and the other important rail head is pathankot that is 67 kms from here.
