Maharana Pratap Sagar sanctuary is a Pong Dam lake sanctuary in the Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh. Named in the owner of Maharana Pratap, a Hindu rajput rule, of Mewar, the wildlife bird sanctuary is located at an elevation of 1476 ft above mean sea level. The sanctuary is popular mainly for the birds like Surkhabs, Arctic Terns, Bar headed Geese,Egrets, Ducks and Lack Headed Gulls and others .

Thousand of Migratory ducks from Siberia can be seen in the Pong dam lake and Backwater regions of Lake.The Wildlife Bird sanctuary is ideally visited during the months of Sept. to April. When the migratory bird populations is at a maximum. It is estimated that over 1,00,000 water birds migrate to the lake during the winter.
Alpine forests and snow covered mountains from backdrops of the wildlife bird sanctuary. The mesmerizing panoramic view of Dhauladhar ranges and Kangra Valley make it good place for Photography.
